Find Lost Money Australia

Sources

Where our information
comes from

Lost money rules are set by government agencies, so we rely on their own published pages. This page lists those sources and explains how we rank them.

Order of authority

  1. The responsible agency's own web page, claim form or published guideline (for example ASIC MoneySmart, the ATO or a state revenue office).
  2. Legislation and official government media releases, used mainly for published totals and dates.
  3. Other official bodies that explain a process, such as bond authorities or public trustees.

We do not use blogs, forums or commercial finder services as a source for rules, deadlines or figures. If an official source does not state something, we say so rather than fill the gap.

Official bodies we reference
