Privacy Policy

How we collect, use and protect your personal information.

Overview

Find Lost Money Australia respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and how we handle it. We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.

What we collect

We collect only what you choose to give us. If you send us a message through our contact form, we collect your name, email address and the content of your message so we can reply. If you subscribe to updates, we collect your email address.

We do not collect the details you enter into government search registers. When you click through to an official register you leave our site entirely, and anything you type there is handled by that government department under its own privacy policy.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, our hosting provider records standard technical information such as your IP address, browser type, the pages you visit and the time of your visit. We use this only to keep the site secure and to understand which pages people find useful.

How we use your information

We use your information to respond to your enquiry, to send updates you have asked for, to improve the content and usability of the site, and to meet our legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with third parties for marketing purposes.

Disclosure

We may disclose personal information to service providers who help us operate the site (for example hosting and email delivery providers), and where we are required to do so by law. Our service providers are bound to protect your information and use it only for the purpose we engaged them for.

Security and retention

We take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. We keep enquiry records only for as long as we need them, and destroy or de-identify information when it is no longer required.

Access, correction and complaints

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email hello@findlostmoney.com.au and we will respond within a reasonable time.

If you believe we have breached your privacy, contact us first so we can try to resolve it. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always available on this page.
